"Rogue One" Trailer Review

The Rogue One teaser trailer that came out a few months ago was spectacular. It evoked the Star Wars tone, offering new and familiar imagery. Aside from the main premise, the story was still kept quite vague. Now, the first official trailer has been released. How much of this next Star Wars film has been revealed?

The trailer opens with a wonderful piano rendition of "The Imperial March." The notes are played slowly, hinting at a darker tone. We see how the Empire has taken over a city, with a star destroyer completely towering over it. Forrest Whitaker's character also gets a few lines, speaking about how the world has changed. It has been confirmed that Whitaker is playing Saw Gerrera, a character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. For those who are unfamiliar with Saw, he is basically a warrior who led a rebellion on his planet with the aid of Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka. He is by no means a major character in the Star Wars mythos, but an interesting addition to this story, as he has already partaken in a rebellion.

The next clip shows Mon Mothma asking Jyn if she can be trusted without her shackles, which begs the question; why is Jyn in the custody of the Rebellion? The Rebllion would only take a prisoner if they were part of the Empire. So was Jyn part of the Imperial fleet? That could explain why she is seen wearing a TIE-fighter pilot's uniform. But then why is she known for rebelling? Moments like these make for great speculation. The following scenes introduce us to the crew that will accompany Jyn. We get a good look at Diego Luna's character and how he interacts with Jyn. The trailer gives us a bit of backstory to Jiang Wen's character, as he says the Empire destroyed his home.

However, one of the coolest parts of the trailer is our proper introduction to Donnie Yen's character. We see just a tad more of him taking down Stormtroopers, but what is really interesting is what he says. He speaks of the force like he knows it. In addition, he is blind, yet seems like a capable fighter. All signs point to him being force sensitive, and quite powerful too. But is he a Jedi? That remains to be seen (no pun intended). We also get a funny line from K-2SO, the large black droid. I am very interested to see what type of character he is because we know next to nothing about him.

What follows are two incredible shots of the Death Star. The first shows it orbiting a planet and it looks stunning. But the real showstopper is the next shot, where the Death Star eclipses the sun. This truly shows the power of the Empire, and the symbolism is on point. The Empire has a tight grip on the galaxy, and there is no hope for our heroes. That is all communicated with that one shot. Then, the music kicks up beautifully and we receive our war imagery. For a franchise called Star Wars, we have not actually seen a war on the big screen; until now, that is. The battle looks intense and is shot like a war epic, which is perfect for the tone Rogue One is targeting.

K-2SO delivers a line in the spacecraft detailing the odds of the team's success. This is a direct nod to a similar line from C-3PO in The Empire Strikes Back. So this confirms what we already knew; there will be quite a number of easter eggs sprinkled throughout this film. After that, there is a montage of action scenes and explosions and it all looks glorious. I especially like the the X-Wings flying through a canyon on a dark and stormy night, as well as one of the soldiers launching a rocket at an AT-AT. So, by this point, the trailer is phenomenal. But then you see it. You see what we have all been waiting for; Darth Vader. His back is turned to the camera and you hear one breath. For many, we already knew this was coming, but I think this was a great and necessary tease. I say necessary because there are still people out there who think this film is a sequel to The Force Awakens. Showing Vader instantly tells you that this comes before The Force Awakens.

Rogue One cannot get here fast enough. Everything so far looks fantastic. I love the tone that is being set by the trailers, the action looks gritty and inspired, and yet this still feels like a Star Wars movie. The trailer is also giving me the vibe that this movie will have a big scope. We have seen three planets in the trailer, with one of them being Yavin and the other the recently announced Jeddah, the Jedi holy place. Each of the films in the original trilogy featured three planets, which shows that Rogue One is following its predecessors in a subtle way. My only complaint is that the ship that appears at the 36-second mark does not look too good. That is it. This is a magnificent trailer that is really building up the anticipation well.

"Justice League" Trailer Review

One biggest films of 2017 will undoubtedly be Justice League, the tentpole film for Warner Bros. This is the movie that will determine whether the DCEU is here to stay. After the massive critical backlash of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. has taken note to make Justice League more lighthearted. So then, does this trailer show us a massive change in tone for the cinematic universe?

The trailer begins with Bruce Wayne telling the story of a mysterious man from the sea who brings fish to the village. Ben Affleck is sporting a very bushy beard, which raises some questions about the timeline. Just how long does it take for him to assemble his team?  The man he speaks of is Aquaman of course, and Jason Momoa looks awesome as the Atlantean. We then see a flashback to medieval times where knights are burying what I believe is a Mother Box. For those who do not know, Mother Boxes are alien technology capable of many things and will be playing a big role in the DCEU. One of them is responsible for giving Cyborg his titular characteristics.

Affleck gives a voiceover explaining how he is building a team of extraordinary people. This dialogue is inter-cut with shots of the eventual members of the Justice League. Aquaman is being built-up as a really tough personality, which should prove interesting when he interacts with Batman. Gadot still looks good as Wonder Woman, though I am still iffy on her acting. We receive a very brief shot of Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, wearing a Gotham City University football jacket.

However, we are introduced to the scene stealer at this point; Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash. The dialogue given to him is cleverly written and very fitting for the character. Just about everything he says is meant as a joke and the humor hits its mark. Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince have a really great exchange when talking about Aquaman. The "more or less" bit is simply fantastic. It is a smaller moment, but it still manages to stick out in this trailer. Also, by now you will have noticed the music. Fans of Justice League: Unlimited will be very pleased with the song choice. "Icky Thump" by the White Stripes bears an uncanny resemblance to the theme from that animated series.

Next, the trailer cuts back to Barry Allen's warehouse, where Bruce throws a batarang at him. We get to see Barry use his speed to dodge it, put it together that Bruce Wayne is Batman, and catch the batarang. Bruce is just about to lay out a speech he has had planned; but just before he can get started, Barry accepts the offer, stating that he needs friends. This entire sequence is hilarious, further cementing the idea that Justice League will carry a lighter tone than the previous DCEU films. So far, the Flash is winning me over.

After this, we get to see everyone in-costume, minus Aquaman. Batman and Wonder Woman look just as good as they did in Batman v Superman. I am not a big fan of the Flash's design. The intention was for it to appear like armor, but it just looks like cheap plastic to me. There are interesting design choices on it, like the wires to keep the plates from moving, but I am not entirely on board with the costume yet. Cyborg's design is awful in my opinion. He has too many sharp angles and the effects look terrible. Perhaps this is the result of unfinished CGI-work, which is plausible, seeing as how the film is still well over a year away. I really hope that is the case. Batman delivers a funny quip just before the main title appears. The final shot is of Bruce still trying to convince Aquaman to join.

This is not exactly an official trailer, but more like an accumulation of completed footage. Either way, I think Justice League is shaping up to make a big splash come 2017. The writing seems polished and Ben Affleck is definitely having a lot of fun. Aquaman and the Flash are proving to be very strong characters. However, Cyborg is still left as a mystery. In addition, there is no sight or mention of Superman at all. I was not expecting anything about Superman anyway, but I am beginning to wonder how much he will feature in this first Justice League film. The music is beyond perfect for this trailer, being one of the major takeaways. This is my favorite trailer to have come out of Comic-Con this year. I thoroughly enjoyed this mixture of footage and I am stoked for Justice League.

"Wonder Woman" Trailer Review

One of the fan favorite characters from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was Wonder Woman. As a result, many are eagerly awaiting the solo film featuring the Amazonian. Aside from the basic information, not much has been made public about this movie. But now we have a full length offical trailer to fill us in.

The first thing we see is Wonder Woman leaning over Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine. He has washed up on the shore of Themyscira. They have a rather comedic exchange before the trailer shows off some of the mystical imagery and WWI settings. The following scene is at some high-end ballroom event, where Diana sneaks in her sword by hiding it in the back of her dress. I say hiding, but it is so obviously not an accessory; I do not know how she was able to bring that into the event. While this is happening, there is a voiceover by Queen Hippolyta, warning Wonder Woman of the human world.

One of the next shots we see is of this woman with some sort of mask on her face. She is either a villain of sorts, or a someone who has sustained serious facial injury. I pray for it to be the latter because this would be a horrible design for a comic-book villain. Who knows; perhaps she is both. There is a great moment where Steve asks Diana about her father, to which she replies "I was brought to life by Zeus." Steve's reaction is perfect, making for a standout moment in this three minute promotion. The trailer then shows us some action with the Amazons taking on human soldiers. This could be a potentially awesome sequence, but I am not confident in how well these two aesthetics will work together. This could be a unique mixture or a horrible clash. It seems odd, these mythical warriors taking on WWI soldiers, but if done correctly, this aspect could make Wonder Woman a very original film.

The following part of the trailer does some parallel editing. The trailer intertwines shots of Wonder Woman's arsenal with those of soldiers getting ready to attack. Her shield, lasso, and armor all look great, with heavy detail on the shield. What comes next is a well-cut-together montage of Wonder Woman kicking ass. She throws a man across the room, which cuts to her making an acrobatic spin. It looks like the man's body becomes hers, which is very clever editing. We also get to see her make use of her lasso and sword. The DCEU is truly selling the warrior aspect of the character.

The music begins to kick up, with heavy emphasis on the drums. The drum beats are mixed with gunfire to wonderful effect. The WWI imagery is really well done with top notch production values. It looks like Diana will be taking on a bunch of soldiers in this film, in which case they do not stand a chance. There is some visionary direction on display, showcasing Wonder Woman's ability to mop the floor with mortals in spectacular fashion. She is sliding on the floor and making excellent use of that sword of hers. The slow motion might be a bit much, but I will have to wait for the film to come out to judge that. The trailer ends with a very well thought-out joke that seems to set the tone for the humor.

I am still not sold on Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Sure, she can physically play the character; but her line delivery still appears to be quite wooden. Hopefully I am wrong about this and she ends up being fantastic. As for the trailer, this is a good promotion for the picture. There is a lot of WWI sprinkled throughout, whereas Themyscira is kept quite secret. This could be so that the creative visuals of the island are more surprising when we first see them on the big screen. Chris Pine looks like he will be giving a great performance, and the action seems thrilling. Though not impatient to see it, I am looking forward to this film's release.

"Doctor Strange" Trailer Review

Doctor Strange is approaching very quickly. This film has been wrapped in mystery for a while, but information has gradually been coming out. That teaser trailer we got a few months back was very good. But now we have the first official trailer for this upcoming Marvel picture. So how is this film looking so far?

The trailer opens by giving us a little more of a glimpse at Dr. Stephen Strange's wealthy lifestyle. He dresses well, has a respectable job, plays the piano, and drives a nice car. Simultaneously, Tilda Swinton's character has a voice over, talking about different realities. This tells me that the filmmakers are fully embracing the magical opportunities that the property offers. We get a very cool shot of Strange backing up into an invisible wall that dissolves and seemingly transports him somewhere else.

Marvel then unveils a brand new studio logo that resembles a kaleidoscope design. I am almost certain that the logo will be exclusive to this film, and it is very fitting. There is some mind-bending imagery shown, further cementing this Marvel installment as a unique entry. Swinton continues her narration, talking about how people like her are able to warp reality and travel great distances through magical means. She continues to use the word "we," making me curious to know how many spell-casters we will see in this movie.

Next, we see the beginning of Strange's training. There is a large number of people outside the temple moving in synchronization, with Strange attempting to follow. The Ancient One asks Strange how he became a doctor, to which he responds, "Study and practice; years of it." This is a great line that is played over a scene of him opening an incantation book and learning how to use magic to surprising effect. Master Wong asks Baron Mordo if Strange is ready. Ready for what though? This worries me because it sounds a lot like a prophecy, and I despise pre-told storytelling. I really hope this film does not take the prophecy route.

Dr. Strange eyes the Cloak of Levitation sitting in a glass case, which is an iconic part of his outfit. The trailers are really building up that article of clothing. There is a great shot of Strange walking towards three windows doors that each lead to a different environment. Shots like these ensure that there will be a bevy of creativity on display. We get a closer look at the villain and a hint to his past with the line "Stronger men than you have lost their way." The makeup on Mads Mikkelsen looks great, and I am sure he will give a good performance, but I am not sold on the villain quite yet. He does not seem to threatening and we know nothing about him.

After that, the trailer offers some more reality-altering visuals that look stunning. Seeing the villains jump across the buildings that are moving and transforming is strikingly spectacular. I have a strong feeling that this will be the third act of the film. This is too epic to be anything other than the stage for the final confrontation, with New York caving in on itself. There is a sweet shot of Strange putting on the cloak; he seems to throw it and it wraps itself around him. It is very short but visually impressive nonetheless. The trailer ends with a very good joke. What upsets me is that it is in this trailer in the first place. This could have been a great surprise in the theatre. But if the rest of the humor is anything like this, then there are sure to be some good laughs.

Those are my thoughts on the recent Doctor Strange trailer. There are quite a number of new scenes as well as extended parts to moments we have seen before. This really does not feel like a Marvel movie, and I am glad that the tone and feel is so radically different. The visuals look amazing and the Benedict Cumberbatch definitely looks the part. The trailers are still keeping his portrayal quite secret though. This is a very good trailer that delivers on the high anticipation of fans.

"Assassin's Creed" Trailer Review

Finally, the first trailer for Assassin's Creed has been released. The production of this film has been curiously under wraps. There is a lot of faith riding on both Warcraft and Assassin's Creed this year, as they shall be the big indicators of the future of the video-game movie genre. This trailer has been impatiently waited for, and now it is time to dissect it.

As the trailer begins, we find out that Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) was executed but is somehow still alive. I suppose I should mention that I am not very familiar with the Assassin's Creed franchise, as I have only played the iOS version (I know, I will make sure to turn in my gamer card by the end of the week). As such, my basic understanding of the series is that a man in the future is sent back to the past and relives the life of an assassin. Whether this execution is part of the plot is beyond me, but I am curious to see how that factors into the story. It also brings up the question of how he survived. Was the death faked? Was he he brought back from the dead?

We then learn that Lynch will be subject to device known as Animus, which will place him in the perspective of one of his ancestors, who was an assassin during the Spanish Inquisition. It seems like this organization that possesses Animus needs information from the ancestor, which brings up a few questions. What does the ancestor know? Or, more importantly, how is what he knows relevant 500 years later? Lynch is then given the iconic wrist blades, which is a trademark for the games, just before entering the past.

Having traveled to the past, it is here where we are introduced to Aguilar, the aforementioned ancestor. What is interesting is that this takes place during the Spanish Inquisition and the assassin's name is Aguilar. In Spanish, "aguila" means eagle, and the first thing the trailer shows us of this time period is a bird flying across the screen. Whether this will have any part in the plot is probably unlikely, but I will not discount the notion. This is also when we are given the worst thing about this trailer; the music. What bonehead thought that a rap song would fit the tone of an Assassin's Creed film? The music almost ruins the greatness of the rest of the trailer -- almost.

And the rest of the trailer is essentially a string of action scenes. The second half of this trailer does not give us any plot details, I believe. We are shown various fight scenes that seem to embody the feel of the game. The assassins jump down from above, using the element of surprise to take out their foes; there is a quick glimpse at a rooftop fight scene that looks pretty sweet; and the female assassin looks like she will be quite the crowd pleaser and perhaps an interesting character.

Even though the rest of the trailer is composed of back-to-back actions snip-its, the action does look varied and locations do not seem reused. The fight choreography looks inventive (as does the cinematography) and there are plenty of parkour scenes. The assassins scale walls with monkey-like ease and they frequently jump from rooftop to rooftop, pursuing their quarry. Near the end of the trailer we cut back to the future and see that Lynch is performing everything he sees with the help of the machine. Though I will be more invested in what is happening in the past, I really do want to know what the meat of the story is of the present plot thread. And then the trailer ends with a tremendously iconic shot of Aguilar purposely falling off a building and diving towards the city below before cutting to black.

And those are my thoughts on the first Assassin's Creed trailer. Not a very long trailer, and an even shorter reaction. The trailer gives us the rudimentary plot with as little information as possible. Perhaps the studio is trying to keep it all a secret? But if the trailer is any indication, this picture could be pretty darn satisfying. Michael Fassbender fits the role perfectly and Marion Cotillard should give a great performance. The action looks incredible and the cinematography and tone are on point. Setting the poor song choice aside, I do have one other issue with this trailer, and that is mainly speculative on my part. The second half of the trailer is filled with action, and I am worried that the trailer may have shown us too much. Maybe the studio just wants to sell the movie the coolest way possible? Or maybe they are hiding a weak story behind the impressive fight sequences? This is all conjecture on my part, but I will say that I am excited to see this and that there has to be some degree of confidence from the filmmakers because it is opening around the same time as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. I have high hopes, so long as there is no actual rap music in the final product.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" Final Trailer Review

Look how far we have come since the first X-Men film. We have gone from black spandex -- to yellow spandex. Believe it or not this is a big change. The X-Men franchise is credited as one of the instigators of this modern wave of comic book films, and it has turned out a number of great entries, with Days of Future Past easily being one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. I vividly remember re-watching all the trailers for that film on repeat because they were so well-made. How does this latest trailer compare with those of its predecessor?

The opening shots show us that Xavier has reopened his school and has a number of students. It will be great to see him teach mutants again, and perhaps comfort them. Xavier's school is among the defining features of this franchise that separates it from other comic book adaptations. After Xavier says that things are better now, Raven replies with "Just because there's not a war doesn't mean there's peace. He's coming." I like this exchange between the two and how they have changed the dynamic of the characters. The line gives us a hint of what is to come, even if it seems a bit forced.

The trailer proceeds to dump plenty of information about Apocalypse. We see a bit of his origin and learn that he has been amassing mutant powers (perhaps that is why he has so many). These scenes are visually striking and the Egyptian aesthetics look great. We learn about his four horsemen, how he was seen as a god, and there is a very cool scene where Apocalypse kills three men either with sand or by taking away their essence. It is not quite clear for me, but I will go with the sand. After being introduced to the horsemen, we are given a little insight as to why Magneto joined forces with Apocalypse; essentially, he has nothing left to lose. He feels he is irredeemable despite Charles' claims that he can help him.

This is followed by Apocalypse claiming to destroy everything the humans have built and in place of the rubble he will shape the world to his liking. We see plenty of things being destroyed, including the Sydney Opera House, which is good because it gives the Golden Gate bridge a much needed break. Once again, we see Charles feel Apocalypse's power, which is a great moment. Once again, we see Apocalypse grow and pin Xavier down, which is another great scene. But then we hear Hank tell Raven that Xavier has been taken. I think this is a great idea because Apocalypse can block mental powers, which would have made Xavier useless. This also gives Raven a solid reason to act as a leader.

Next, we see Raven assembling her new team of X-Men, which includes Jean Grey, Scott Summers (Cyclops), and Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler). Being able to explore these established characters in their younger days could be a major benefit for the franchise as it gives us the opportunity to understand how they become the adults we know. We also get a funny scene with Pietro (Quicksilver) telling Raven that Magneto is indeed his father. This was a nice reference in Days of Future Past, and while I am interested to see where this goes in the new film, I think I would have preferred it if it were left ambiguous. That being said, I am all for developing Quicksilver as a deeper character who may appear in future installments.

We are then treated to some pretty sweet action scenes. The music kicks up and is appropriate for the trailer. One of the more memorable shots is when Storm's lightning clashes with Cyclops' beam. It looks really cool, but it does concern me. Cyclops' beam is supposed to be concussive, not a laser beam. So I fail to see how lightning can clash with it. I know this is a comic book film and physics has to be thrown out the window on certain occasions, but I just hope the filmmakers remember that Cyclops does not have laser vision, but rather concussive beam vision. Then we get a fantastic line: "It's all of us against a god and the most powerful beings on Earth." It truly sets the stakes high and I hope these villains pose a legitimate threat and do actual damage to the team that will change them.

Cue the second wave of action, which begins with Beast fighting Psylocke. It looks pretty intense and seems to be an intriguing match-up. We see some more Quicksilver action as well. I have no idea how they are going to top the prison break scene from the previous film, but I am rather optimistic about it. What follows is a string of scenes with people shouting and/or unleashing their powers with rage. That seems like a lazy summary but that is what happens. All of it looks really good, but there is not much to read-into, aside from Magneto wanting to take everything from the team. Why? The trailer does not really imply why, so we will have to find out on release day. But the ending of this trailer is easily the big take-away. We see some enemies have been taken out and Cyclops says they had some help. The next thing we see are three familiar claws protruding from a fist. Not only does this imply that Wolverine will be more than just a cameo in the film, but that he did in fact eventually get metal claws. I am unapologetically impatient to see where this goes.

Those are my thoughts on the final Apocalypse trailer. I think this trailer might be my favorite of the bunch. It illustrates the drama, the characters, and the plot incredibly well and has many memorable moments. The Wolverine tease at the end was just a bonus. This is the comic book film I am looking forward to the most this year, hands down. It looks set to challenge Days of Future Past as the best film in the franchise and also appears set to end this odd trilogy with a bang. This film has everything going for it, and I cannot wait to see it.

"Jason Bourne" Trailer Review

So this film came out of left field for me. The Superbowl trailer caught me off guard. As far as the Bourne franchise goes, I think they are great films and I really enjoy them. However, I do not really love them. I have only seen movie one once or twice and that was a while ago, so perhaps it is time for a re-watch. Either way, I am excited to see this next film, so let us see what this trailer has to offer.

The trailer begins with Jason Bourne lying on a bed in some dark hotel room. He says, "I know who I am," which immediately intrigues me. The last we saw of Bourne, he did not remember much of anything from his past. But his knowing who he is sends this film in a very different direction. However, The Bourne Legacy also went in a different direction and was not received too well (I enjoyed it quite a bit actually). Next, we see Bourne in an interrogation room with someone telling him that he will no longer be himself once they are done with him. If this holds true, then the film should be very different from what we have gotten in the past from a story perspective, which could offer a fresh new take on this movie franchise.

Bourne then says "I remember everything," which furthers the concept of a new direction. If the film follows up on this promise and this does not become a bait-and-switch, then we could see what Bourne was like in the past. We could see what he did to gain his reputation and why he is considered to be so dangerous (apart from what we have seen in the films). Suddenly, Nicky shows up, with Julia Stiles reprising her role. It is good to see her again, especially for those who did not like The Bourne Legacy. Another familiar face, in addition to Matt Damon, could really draw in more people, and Stiles fits the bill.

We then see a CIA agent mentioning how the agency has been hacked. They run facial recognition whose mug should appear on their screen? None other than Bourne's. I love the line that comes from the CIA operative when he sees his face. "Jesus Christ! That's Jason Bourne!" It is such a great line that instantly gives Bourne a reputation, even for those who are not familiar with the series. I also like the next line, "Why would he come back now?" This line also helps to set up a relatively clean slate, which welcomes newcomers.

Next, we find out that the CIA (or perhaps a third party) is tracking Nicky and so they are also following Bourne. The question then arises, why is she with Bourne again? Is she trying to help him? Does she need something from him? This is also when we are given our first true action scene. Greengrass' direction looks to be back in full force. The action looks sleek and quickly edited. However, the editing factor might be because this is a trailer.

After some explosions and hand-to-hand combat, we return to daylight. The trailer implies that Bourne might know something that the CIA does not. And perhaps he is not going after the CIA. But then who is in the center of his crosshairs? The trailer then does something that I am completely sick of: the car-passing-and-person-disappearing trick. You know what this is; a person is standing or walking, a car zooms past in front of them, and then the person is gone. It was cool the first few times, but now it has become a cliché and I am tired of seeing it. It is no longer original or inventive. The trailer then gives us plenty of action sequences all strung together by voiceovers that tell us that Bourne is dangerous. The action looks awesome and plentiful, Greengrass appears to be returning comfortably, and it looks like a Bourne film. That is the best thing I can say about it.

We are then transported to Las Vegas, and I love this idea. Some nighttime action sequences in this city of lights should look amazing on the big screen. We see a SWAT car crash through the doors of a casino, which is pretty cool in itself. But the car chase as a whole looks breathtaking, and is probably the take-away moment of the trailer for most. However, my favorite moment is the last scene in the trailer. We see Bourne in some desert-like area surrounded by a lot of people. It seems that he is forced to fight these people, and he knocks out his opponent with a single punch. The sound that played with it really carried the weight of his punch and establishes him as a man you do not want to mess with. I am very curious to find out where he is and why he is there. Is this where he has been hiding? We will have to wait for the film to answer those questions.

So those are my thoughts on the new Jason Bourne trailer. Not my most in-depth breakdown but I have not seen the films in a while and I do not think there is too much to read into. Having said that, this is a very good trailer that has me excited for the film, but I can wait. The trailer did not stun or shock me in anyway, but it appears to represent the film well. With recent films such as Edge of Tomorrw, Mad Max: Fury Road, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and several others, there seems to be a resurgence of great summer action films. Hopefully, Jason Bourne will continue the streak.
